Topic: The Night Of Your 21st Birthday
From what I can gather about this topic, this challenge was probably written by someone in the States. I can assume that the creator of this challenge was looking for a story about when you are turning legal age. Since we live in Canada, this topic would probably have said, “The Night of Your 19th Birthday”. I will follow what the topic is, and try to talk about my 21st birthday.
Funny thing is, I really don’t remember specifics about this night. It actually reminds me of a part in a movie… Let’s go there for a minute.
Today is my son’s 7th birthday. Will he remember this day later in life? Not really sure. I guess he will remember it through pictures and from stories from us, if we remember the details. Today we watched the movie “Inside Out”. It’s a great movie by the way. There is a part in the movie where the “memory balls” end up in “forgotten land”. These memories eventually disappear. The joke in the movie is that the girl will forget certain items but will remember a very annoying commercial jingle.
Back to the blog. I think my memory of this night has been lost in this forgotten land. I can guess how my evening would have gone. I probably spent the day with Dan, we were dating then for almost 3 years. We would have hung out somewhere, whether it was driving around St. John’s and vicinity, or just sitting and watching some tv. There would be a dinner celebration at my house, with cake of my choice, and some gifts. Other than that, I really would have no other ideas as to what I would have done.
My mom joked about finding her old diary to look through to see what she would have written about, but then that would be her memory and not mine. I guess there are other birthday’s that I would remember more, some less, but I really don’t mind…as long as there are many more to come.
***Continued***
So after publishing this blog, sure enough my mom finds her journal and emails me the details of the day….
