There is something about sliding that makes you feel like a child again, so while on our holidays in Newfoundland, we made plans to go sliding with a friend and her daughter. Unfortunately she got sick the morning of our plans, so we headed out on our own and hit up one of the local hills that was a favourite when I was a kid.
Since we were travelling, we did not have a slide with us of course, but luckily my parents still had a couple of crazy carpets stashed away in their basement which we happily took with us to use.
Hayden was not impressed by the crazy carpets since he didn’t know how to control them and keep a straight line going down the hill. Amateur! But Dan has used his share of these things, so he took a few runs to show Hayden how it was done.
After several attempts, Hayden was still having a hard time going straight, so I hopped on one of the crazy carpets and gave a little instruction.
Lie down here.
Hold it here.
Curl the front.
Down you go.
He preferred to go on his back… a little unorthodox perhaps, but he made it work…
After a few more runs, Hayden finally started to get the hang of it and Dan had pulverized his internal organs and it was time go call it quits. We all had lots of laughs and it was nice to get outside and enjoy the wintry conditions.
Do you have a favourite local sliding hill? Have you been out this winter yet to go sliding? We would love to hear about it in the comments.
Thanks for reading.
Happy for you to get sliding ticked off your bucket list this Christmas. Looking forward to the next blog.
