For the past few years, I have really enjoyed going to the Outdoor Adventure Show in Toronto, so after hearing about the Quiet Adventure Symposium I was intrigued and wanted to go check it out. As luck would have it, an opportunity to go this year fell into my lap and I couldn’t pass it up.
I got lucky as just days before the show I was approached by John Van Barriger from The Outdoor Kind to be a volunteer at his booth. Both his previous volunteers had to cancel and I was able to manage to skip away for the weekend to help him out. This was another new adventure for me as I have always attended outdoor shows as either a blogger or just an attendee, but this time I was participating in the show by helping John look after his booth and covering for him while he was off doing his presentations.

It was a very busy day, but I did get a chance to wander around and check out some of the other booths and displays. Being that I have never been to this show most of the booths are new and unfamiliar to me. I wandered around talking to people when I could, finding new and exciting places that I could potentially visit in the future.
There were a few familiar faces, such as Kevin Callan, The Happy Camper, who was selling his book Once Around Algonquin in the booth next to us, and the Paddling Adventures Radio Podcast gentlemen. They were busy all day doing interviews with all these very cool outdoor people. Be sure to check out their podcast as they are featuring these interviews over the next few weeks.

Probably one of my favorite moments was talking with Jerry Vandiver as he added my sticker to his guitar case! Such a wonderful guy. He and his fiddle player Caitlin Evanson were attending the show playing for the crowd as well as selling their newest cd.
