Our outdoor adventures have slowed down at the moment since I have been recovering from my bout with vertigo, but we still try to get out when we can. So when we had a nice sunny Sunday afternoon this past weekend, we headed out to a couple of our favourite beaches to get some fresh air.
We are truly lucky to live close to a couple of very popular Ontario Parks that are known for their sandy beaches. These beaches are very busy in the summer because of high number out of province and local visitors but in the winter the beaches are very quiet.
After a very short drive we arrived at our first beach, Sandbanks Provincial Park, and headed out for a walk. There were people in the parking lot, however we only saw one other person walking the beach.
The sun was warm on our faces but the wind was very cold through our clothes, so it wasn’t too long before we decided we had enough time battling the wind and headed back to our vehicle.
On our way home we stopped at another local beach which is not part of the Ontario Parks system. This beach has seen a lot of visitors this past summer as well, but now it was almost as deserted at Sandbanks. We sat at the picnic table and enjoyed the sun even more as the wind was not attacking us directly at this beach. After trolling the beach for some perfect skipping rocks we eventually made our way home.
Just being outside for a short amount of time can really be good for your body and mind. I am always happy to visit the beach as I tend to enjoy the sounds of the waves through the pebbles.
