For the last two years we went camping in a yurt at Mew Lake in Algonquin Park for New Year’s (You can read about year 2 here), but this year we didn’t get a Yurt booked because we were adventuring in Iceland and we missed the opportunity. When ticket sales started for the Ontario Backcountry Canoe Symposium in April 2019, it got me thinking back to August when we headed out to Kawartha Highlands for a weekend adventure. Ontario Winter Camping Symposium 2018
Picture 400 people in an auditorium all listening to presentations about a common topic: Winter Camping! Yes, that happened again this year with the help of organizer David Bain (and more) at the Theatre of the Arts in Waterloo. There was some rain overnight and it was still sprinkling a little in the morning as we crawled out of our tents, but that didn’t bother us. We had no set plans for the day, but we knew there would be more fishing! If you missed it, click here to read about part 1.
