Meanest Link – Opeongo to Oxtongue

Would you travel around Algonquin Park covering about 420 km just to get your name on a wall? I know I would. So when my friend Peter messaged me about completing a section of a trip called the “Meanest Link” I was all in. The section we would attempt to complete was a total distance of 102.2 km that went from Lake Opeongo to Oxtongue Lake connecting the two Algonquin Outfitter stores at each location.

French River Voyageurs Channel Trip – Part 2

Knowing that there might be high winds and waves in the afternoon for Wednesday’s paddle we set our alarm to get up for 5 am. That way we would have an early start and hopefully get most of our paddling complete before the weather made travel difficult. Even though we started that early we did have some challenging water to paddle before we stopped for the night. (Click here to catch up on part 1 if you missed it)

French River Voyageurs Channel Trip – Part 1

Even though we typically like to travel for at least a couple of weeks in the summer, this year it was jut not possible, but we still wanted an epic adventure. So, Dan took a couple of weeks of vacation and we sought out to plan something other than an overnight or weekend adventure. As I scoured through maps and books with different canoe routes to conquer, we settled on heading to the French River and completing a similar loop to one in Kevin Callan’s Top 50 Canoe Routes in Ontario.
