When you get a weekend with beautiful weather and Ontario Parks opens their parks for day use it’s time to plan a paddling adventure! So with a little planning we decided to go to Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park and paddle a couple of lakes with another family – while making sure we still stayed save and kept our distance of course!

Back before everything shut down, we had purchased new mountain bikes for both myself and my son. However, we didn’t have very many places to try them out as most recreational areas were closed and we had to wait. When the word came out that certain places were opening up and we could now hit the trails we immediately bought a family pass for the Kingston Mountain Bike Club, where Dan and Hayden have been members for years.

Ontario Parks have closed their doors to visitors to help reduce the chances for spreading this Covid-19 virus. We have always loved driving to the beaches to go for walks on beautiful sunny days, and also at night to catch the sun sets. Luckily we know of a couple of areas locally where we can still walk the shores of Lake Ontario and still get those beach vibes.

Once again we headed outdoors to hike at one of the local conservation areas. It has been a while since we visited this particular trail, so we were happy that it was still open for walking. The sun was shining and we are always looking to maximize our outdoor time on the weekends as Dan still works during the week.
