The canoe, she has been stored all winter, waiting, just waiting for spring to show up so she can wet her legs. Well finally it seems that spring has arrived, and with temperatures up to double digits we got her ready for her first paddle this year. This past weekend just also happens to coincide with my parents visiting so we took my mother with us for the paddle.
Canoeing in December?
Ever since we bought our canoe in August I have been wanting to get out as much as possible. A few weeks ago we got out for a paddle and when we got home, we put away the canoe…..dirty!! In the back of my mind I was hoping to get out one more time, at that point I would do the final wash before storing the canoe. Time passed and the opportunities to get out was slipping through my fingers.
Island Escape?
With the change of the seasons, school in session, and regular working hours, our outdoor adventures become limited to weekend outings. These outings now consist mainly of day trips or one nighters.
Searching for Fall Colors
This years fall colors in Algonquin Provincial Park hit peak early, and I mean weeks early. We have been watching the fall color report closely, and we just happened to have a weekend open just when they were due to hit peak. I checked on the Ontario Parks reservation system and was lucky to find ONE site open for Saturday so I booked it immediately.
