Escaping to Kawartha Highlands

As our time for summer trips was coming to an end, I continued my search for backcountry canoe trips that we could complete before I had to head back to work. I once again got lucky and managed to snag a two night booking at Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. It was in the middle of the week, but with sites hard to come by this summer Dan booked the time off from work and off we went.

Biking the Millennium Trail – Prince Edward County

Finding new adventures in our local area is such a great thing, especially these days. It means there’s no need travel long distances and we get to support our local businesses. We’ve known about the Millennium trail for a long time, but never really looked into exploring it until now. It’s an old rail bed which has been converted to a multi-use trail and covers 46 km from Consecon to Picton in Prince Edward County.

Becoming an ORCKA Basic Canoe Instructor

This year I decided to complete my Basic Canoe Instructor course so that I would have the ability to certify my students in my outdoor education program in basic canoeing. Being certified in even just the basic canoeing skills can be transferred to possible jobs in the outdoor industry and is a huge benefit for my students. Also, the certification does not expire, so it will be a skill they will have for a lifetime.
