Years ago as a family we went to the Bruce Peninsula during the summer to camp, hike and swim in the blue waters of Georgian Bay. This year I went in the winter with a very special person, Christina, to help celebrate her 50th birthday.

It is time to leave Banff behind and make our way further west. We have no set path and we will drive until we find a place to camp for the night. There are places we wanted to stop and believe it or not, we found some impromptu places to go as well. So onward we go on this adventure where we figured out later that day we ended up passing through and/or visiting 4 National Parks that day.

We got up early (or so we thought) to begin our second day of adventures. The morning air was fairly chilly as it had dropped down to 4 degrees overnight, which motivated Hayden to get breakfast (i.e. hot chocolate) started as we packed up gear for the day.
We weren’t sure exactly which hike to do, so on the way out of the campground, we stopped to talk to the park office about our options. It was only 9:00, but they told us that we were already starting too late and that parking lots would be full and there would be very limited parking on the road. We were still wrapping our heads around just how busy the park is these days.

As we prepared to say farewell to Newfoundland, we planned to visit a few more sites along the west coast. Our plan for these couple of days was to see more of Gros Morne National Park, visit a local provincial park further up the west coast, then end with a visit with family while we wait for our ferry.
