Every year over the Family Day long weekend, Algonquin Provincial Park hosts The Winter In The Wild Festival to celebrate winter in the park. It’s a great weekend to head to the park to learn about all the things that they have to offer, including outdoor activities like skating and snowshoeing, guided tours, and various presentations and demonstrations on things like winter camping. This year was my first time attending the festival, which was extra special because I was invited by Camper Christina to help her demo her hot tents and talk about winter camping, which I was really excited to do. Last year’s plan to do the same thing was cancelled because Christina was recovering from a concussion, so I was super happy to get the opportunity again this year.

I know what you’re thinking – and you can get your mind out of the gutter! This is about my first time spending the night by myself in a hot tent. Over the years, I have been on many different winter camping adventures – cold tenting, shelter building, in yurts, and yes, hot tenting with my friend Christina. This year’s Outdoor Adventure Show took place in Toronto from February 22-24th and I am so grateful that I was able to attend again as an official blogger. This show highlights all things outdoors and is an integral component of the outdoor community that I love, so I am excited to share my experience with everyone who couldn’t attend. The show is also a great place to see old friends, make new ones, and shop around for gear (that I really don’t need, but want to buy anyway!). I actually didn’t buy anything this year, but I did look REALLY hard at some items.
Over the next couple of posts, I will recap a few of the presentations that I was able to attend and take you around the venue showing off different booths, displays, demonstrations etc. I hope you enjoy!

During this past weekend at the Winter in the Wild event held in Algonquin Park, there was a situation that needed immediate attention. No names nor the situation will be used as I feel that isn’t important in this post, it’s the response that I witnessed that is.
