With the change of the seasons, school in session, and regular working hours, our outdoor adventures become limited to weekend outings. These outings now consist mainly of day trips or one nighters.
The Wild Center (Thanksgiving trip Part 2)
On Thanksgiving this year, we decided to head to Lake Placid. With a 5 hour drive on the way there, we decided to stop at the Wild Center in Tubber Lake to check out their new display, an interactive Wild Walk which is located about 30 feet in the air. Years ago we had visited this place, and they were just in the process of building this new interactive display.

“Pint and Paddle” You Say?
Over the summer and into the fall, Cruising Canoes does a series of Pint and Paddle tours. For a small fee, you get either a kayak or canoe, paddle and PFD and the cost of your pint covered at a local establishment. The tour goes around local areas in the Quinte Region and this particular one I went on took us down the Moira River.
Hiking a High Peak (Thanksgiving Weekend Trip Part 1)
The past few years we have gone camping in Arrowhead Provincial Park on the Thanksgiving weekend to catch the fall colors. This year we knew the colors were not the best, so we decided to do something a little different. For Thanksgiving this year, we headed to Lake Placid in New York State. We have been here twice before, but the timing was lining up nicely with the fall color reports for the area.
