We are really fortunate that the ice was out in our area at the end of April, giving us the opportunity to go for a very early May canoe trip. This was our first time getting out this early in our canoe, so to say that I was excited was an understatement!

They are planning to change their winter plans in the future and we are hoping that wherever they go, we will be able to visit. I recently decided to try something a little different than our normal outdoorsy type adventures when I spotted an event on Facebook being held at a local yoga studio where you do yoga AND play with kittens. It was a fundraising event for a local animal shelter advocate called Fixed Fur Life – where we actually got our kittens from many years ago, so I was glad to help them out. They help rescue and foster animals, and provide funding to spay and neuter them to help prevent the influx of animals to local shelters.

I can’t officially say that the ice is out in ALL of Ontario, but down in our little section of it we are officially ice free. Of course that means it is time to get our canoe out for her first paddle of the year. She had been waiting patiently in our garage for the water to be soft for a very long time.
