I can’t officially say that the ice is out in ALL of Ontario, but down in our little section of it we are officially ice free. Of course that means it is time to get our canoe out for her first paddle of the year. She had been waiting patiently in our garage for the water to be soft for a very long time.

Not having a campsite booked for the weekend after the long weekend in July was a little upsetting. There were originally other plans which meant we were not going to be able to camp, but those plans fell through. Since we had no camping was booked, we decided to make a day trip to Algonquin Provincial Park to do some canoeing.
Mother and Son Trip
With few days left before we head out on our big adventure, I took advantage of this time to take my son on an overnight canoe trip. It had to be close, short, and minimal to easy portaging and canoeing. This would be his first time canoeing in the bow of our canoe, and my first time taking him on a canoe trip alone.
