Plan B… that’s where we left off right? Well as you read in part 1, plan A was to paddle and portage to the falls, but after realizing that it would take about 6 hours to complete the round trip we made a plan B. Hayden was very pleased to know there was a plan B which would mean us paddling back to the car – load it for the drive – and drive to the falls access trail. After a long summer with some fantastic padding adventures, it’s time to hang our canoe up for the winter. This time of year, it’s difficult to plan for canoeing since the water can freeze overnight making travel difficult or impossible, not to mention dangerous. This year, the cold weather arrived earlier than we anticipated, but with a close eye on the forecast, we bundled up and headed out for our final paddle of the year.

When we first visited Killarney a few years ago we loved it so much that we knew we would have to go back. It’s a beautiful park, which of course means it’s also extremely popular and booking a site needs to be done well in advance. So when I happened to check last minute and saw an opening for three nights starting on a Saturday – clearly a cancellation – we jumped on it, despite the facts that we had tickets to a concert Friday night and that we would be getting back only two days before leaving for our vacation to British Columbia!
