This summer after our wonderful trip to Iceland, we decided to head to the west coast of Newfoundland and visit Gros Morne and surrounding areas. The goal was to hike Gros Morne mountain, again. This would be my third time, Dan’s second time and Hayden’s first! On the Parks Canada website, the information for Gros Morne is listed as Difficult, 16 km return trip, taking 6-8 hours reaching a peak of 806 meters. How did we do? Continue reading to find out.
Small Slide Lake Loop – Frontenac
If you have been following our adventures, you know we are frequent flyers to Frontenac Provincial Park. This Mother’s Day weekend, we decided to hike a section of the Slide Lake Loop. The main loop is 21 kilometres, with a haul to the park office, making it way too big for my little guys legs to complete. So instead, listed on the Friends of Frontenac website, we opted for the Small Slide Lake Loop which we would access off the Rideau Trail off of Perth Road. This would be a more manageable 13 kilometre hike instead.
Hiking Ferris Provincial Park
Last year around this time we headed out to Ferris Provincial Park to hike some of their trails. This park is right outside Campbellford, and we have visited many times either geocaching, biking, hiking or just checking out the water and the suspension bridge. Today we planned to hike some trails on the interior of the park.
Geocaching at Massassauga Point
Have you ever been Geocaching? Do you even know what this means? Well let me fill you in. Geocaching is like a treasure hunt. People from all over the world hide containers of various sizes, mark their location on a GPS, and then upload the coordinates to a website. Your job is to download these coordinates, find the hidden container and “claim” your treasure.
