This trip was a little different for us. This trip the boys got a head start on celebrating the last day of school along with the first day of summer. Friday was a PA day here, which means Hayden is home from school, but I am still required to be at work. That gave way for plans on having my boys get a night out on their own, and I would join them after work on Friday.
Being a Local Tourist
We live in an area that has many places and things to see and do, so with the weather looking extremely beautiful the last weekend in May, we headed out to find some local tourist locations. The decision was made to take the canoe out for a paddle down in Wellington, and well, just see what would happen after that…
Mazinaw Rock Paddle
The best thing about having our own canoe is that I can wake up in the morning, look at the weather, and decide it’s time for a paddle adventure. Prior to this we would have to beg, borrow or rent a canoe. Times have changed and I am happy for this. So, on the long weekend when the weather finally produced some sun, off we went for our next paddle adventure. This time we headed to Bon Echo Provincial Park. We would paddle out to the Mazinaw Rcok Pictographs.
Small Slide Lake Loop – Frontenac
If you have been following our adventures, you know we are frequent flyers to Frontenac Provincial Park. This Mother’s Day weekend, we decided to hike a section of the Slide Lake Loop. The main loop is 21 kilometres, with a haul to the park office, making it way too big for my little guys legs to complete. So instead, listed on the Friends of Frontenac website, we opted for the Small Slide Lake Loop which we would access off the Rideau Trail off of Perth Road. This would be a more manageable 13 kilometre hike instead.
