Last year around this time we headed out to Ferris Provincial Park to hike some of their trails. This park is right outside Campbellford, and we have visited many times either geocaching, biking, hiking or just checking out the water and the suspension bridge. Today we planned to hike some trails on the interior of the park.
Lakeview Trail
It’s great when my parents visit and the weather cooperates. This year we were able to spend the time outside on more than one occasion. The first was taking my mom up and down the Moira River in our canoe, and today was a family event where we hiked the Lakeview Trail at Sandbanks Provincial Park.
Mississagua River Trail
New Trail? You bet! This time we were heading to Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park to check out the new Mississagua River Trail. I have been hearing about this trail through a few sources, and with the weather looking optimal, the plan to go was in effect. As with all new trail locations (or even new tripping locations) I start with a map. I want to check out the location, how long it is to drive, and where exactly we would go.
Doe Lake Loop in Frontenac Provincial Park
We are no strangers to Frontenac Provincial Park. We have been here many times canoe camping, hiking, and I have taken my outdoor classes here for their big canoe trip each year. This visit we decided to hike a new trail section. We needed a trail that was shorter in length, as we knew we would be here for only a couple of hours in the morning. With that in mind, we headed to the park to hike the Doe Lake Loop.
