After our trip to Big East Lake in the Haliburton Highland Water Trails we made a very spontaneous decision… Well if you know me, you know that on trips this is a very common occurrence. I am famous for making spontaneous stops at attractions just to “check it out”.
This particular stop was located at the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve where we could stop and see the wolves in the Haliburton Wolf Center. We have been to the center a couple of times before, once before they had their enclosure vandalised and some of the wolves escaped, and once after. They had received more wolves since then and we were curious just how many we might see, since last time we didn’t see much. There is just something majestic about seeing these creatures up close and I was happy to stop here again.
We were in luck! When we parked and paid for our entrance to the center, the front desk told us that all 8 wolves were in the viewing area! We just sat quietly and watched as they slumbered the afternoon away, moving from one sunny spot to another. We really could have stayed much longer, but since we had just finished a trip and had a bit of a drive before getting back home, we had to say good bye to these lovely creatures and get going.
