Last year I celebrated my birthday with Camper Christina on Black Lake in the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails and we had so much fun that we decided to do it again this year. We knew we wanted to head to Temagami, but exactly where was hard to decide. Since Christina is more familiar with the park, she finally settled on heading to Obabika Lake where she had arranged a special surprise for my birthday.

The first evening of our trip had passed, bringing the first morning of my 40s, but that was OK because Christina and I had been having a great time on our trip so far and there was more fun to be had. There was some rain overnight and it was still sprinkling a little in the morning as we crawled out of our tents, but that didn’t bother us. We had no set plans for the day, but we knew there would be more fishing! If you missed it, click here to read about part 1.
As you may have guessed from the title, this blog is dedicated to my 40th birthday. For the past couple of years, we have gone camping together on my birthday since it usually falls on Labour Day weekend. However, for my 39th I left the family behind and I went on a trip with Cruising Canoes to the French River with 10 people I didn’t know, and this year I went canoe tripping with Christina. We have been wanting to do a summer canoe trip together and Labour Day weekend was our first chance. It just happen to fall on my big birthday.
