Did We Forget Anything? Part 1 (Part 2 150 for 150 event)

About 5 months ago, the planning for this trip started with the event #150for150. If you haven’t seen pictures or heard of this event, click on the hastag which will link you to their Facebook page.  The basic information is the gathering of 150 canoes on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park to help celebrate Canada’s 150 years.  A group of fellow bloggers, vloggers, and online personalities were all involved in getting this organized.  I was jumping in on this with two feet, thus getting our site booked for the weekend in Algonquin. Ant Kingdom (The nickname for our campsite)

This past weekend, we did a little family overnight canoe trip into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park.  The last time we ventured into this park was for a weekend in 2015 where we went into Wolf Lake then Crab lake.  It’s actually hard to believe it’s been almost 2 years since we have gone back. Mainly due to the fact that we have been camping and finding adventures in many other locations. Now on to the actual trip. (This part will have more pictures than writing, I promise)

Friday, around 4:30 pm myself and Hayden got on the highway on route to Frontenac Provincial Park.  The rain was splattering a little on us, but the weather in Frontenac was clear (according to the weather network).  As we got closer to Deseronto, traffic came to a stop. We were not moving very fast. Great. What now? All speculation soon came reality as we passed an accident on the off ramp into Deseronto.  Ok, full steam ahead!  Then the rain, rain, rain.  Awesome. Great. Sh%t.  Would I have to turn around and not continue? NO! I was not letting this get to me.  I knew the weather was nicer at our destination. We had to stop in Napanee to get some supper and we watched the rain fall even harder through the windows of the restaurant.  We continued further on the road and as soon as we turned up HWY 6 from Odessa the weather cleared.  I couldn’t see blue skies, but the rain had stopped and it looked like it was just staying close to the 401. Phew. This was a relief. The rest of the trip to the park office went great.

Hiking trip to Frontenac Provincial Park (Part 1: Prep Work)

Where do I begin?

I have been following numerous bloggers and outdoor enthusiasts on social media, and it got me thinking about blogging again.  I have done this in the past, but not really to my best potential.  This takes time, which there are days I have very little…. but something sparked in me, and here we are.
