A few weeks ago we managed to arrange a trip in Algonquin to take in the fall colours and do some hiking. Unfortunately, we missed the peak colours for the maples, but we were lucky to catch the remaining golden leaves before they fell as well.

In October I had attended a very special meeting: the Friends of Temagami Annual General Meeting. I recently became a member of FOT, so attending my first meeting was important to me as I wanted to hear about what was going on in Temagami and if there are ways I would be able to help.

Fall is such a lovely time around here to chase colors and camp in cooler and more comfortable conditions, at least in my opinion. We are definitely fonder of the cooler fall temperatures around Ontario than those hot and humid summer days. Even though those are lovely, but in short spurts. We knew that there was no way we would venture north to Algonquin on Thanksgiving weekend as the crowds tend to be…. a little crazy, so we waited for the weekend after.
This years fall colors in Algonquin Provincial Park hit peak early, and I mean weeks early. We have been watching the fall color report closely, and we just happened to have a weekend open just when they were due to hit peak. I checked on the Ontario Parks reservation system and was lucky to find ONE site open for Saturday so I booked it immediately.
