This year a group of outdoor enthusiasts planned and organized the first ever Ontario Winter Camping Symposium. There would be speakers that have all sorts of different winter camping experiences, and they would share a little of their knowledge with the lucky 300 people who were able to get tickets.
Making Smart Decisions
Have you ever planned a trip and then cancel last minute? Was it due to unforeseen circumstances? Was it due to weather? Did you get sick and couldn’t travel? I’m sure we have all come across a situation where a trip that was planned had to be cancelled. Well this past weekend was one of those trips.
Thunderboxes!
The title says it all. If you have ever been backcountry camping, whether it is canoeing or hiking or however, you have probably come across a thunderbox. What is that you say? It’s a fancy term for a bathroom in the outdoors. They are typically a wooden box made from 2 x 4’s with a lid to keep your “seat” dry.
Island Escape?
With the change of the seasons, school in session, and regular working hours, our outdoor adventures become limited to weekend outings. These outings now consist mainly of day trips or one nighters.
