Outdoor Gear Gift Guide 2020

The holidays are approaching fast and I wanted to share a little guide for some great gear gift ideas for your outdoor enthusiast person. Some of these items are pieces of gear that I have in my gear kit, and there are others that are currently on my wish list.

5 Gear Gift Ideas for Your Outdoor Enthusiast

Outdoor companies are always sharing new pieces of gear that they make and it’s hard to not go out and buy every single item. Firstly that would just cost way too much and secondly, where would it all be stored?

This list is compiled of a few items I thought that outdoor enthusiasts would like and I have listed them in no particular order.

  1. Gift Cards! This is probably the easiest gift idea. Find out where your person loves to shop for their outdoor gear and buy them a gift card for that company. Many places offer gift cards for as low as $5. Any amount of money for that favorite store will help with future purchases.
  2. Camp Chair. Any camp chair can enhance your trips. There are many options to choose from, so it’s a good idea to do your research. Do you want a chair that you can pack easily and carry on a portage? Do you want one that you can lean back and support your head? We use the Helinox Chairs and they are quite comfortable for backcountry trips as well as using while car camping. If I were to select another option for a future purchase, I would look for one that I would be able to lean back and rest my head. We purchased our camp chairs at MEC.
  3. A good camp knife. I am currently considering getting my son his own camp knife as he really enjoys cutting sticks when we are sitting around the fire. Plus having a good camp knife is an item that everyone needs. If you head over to Canadian Outdoor Equipment Company, there is a huge selection of knives.
  4. Reflector Oven. Over the years I have seen more people use a reflector oven at camp and this item is on my list to purchase! These ovens are great for cooking muffins, bread, cinnamon buns, pizzas, and so much more. Since we now have a hot tent to use, I know this item will be used frequently. Hint hint Santa…. I want one 🙂
  5. LARQ Water Bottle with Travel Sleeve. Over the summer I have been using a LARQ water bottle on my backcountry trips to purify my drinking water. LARQ has now produced a travel sleeve to help with carrying the bottle around. I had made a homemade sleeve, but I am looking forward to receiving one of these limited edition sleeves.
