Pre Christmas Yurt Trip – Part 2

We woke up Sunday morning to a lovely winter scene thanks to the little bit of fresh snow that had fallen overnight. The snow was a fantastic sight because the plan was to go hike some of the trails Algonquin has to offer in the winter. Unfortunately, a couple of our favourites were closed due to bad conditions, but it worked out because that forced us to head to an awesome trail we had never hiked before! Pre Christmas Yurt Trip – Part 1

For the last two years we went camping in a yurt at Mew Lake in Algonquin Park for New Year’s (You can read about year 2 here), but this year we didn’t get a Yurt booked because we were adventuring in Iceland and we missed the opportunity. We may have missed our shot at New Year’s, but we still wanted to go winter camping at Mew Lake, so when a different opportunity came up, we jumped on it.

Ontario Winter Camping Symposium 2018

Picture 400 people in an auditorium all listening to presentations about a common topic: Winter Camping! Yes, that happened again this year with the help of organizer David Bain (and more) at the Theatre of the Arts in Waterloo.  This is the second year for the Ontario Winter Camping Symposium and I made sure to secure a ticket. There was a great line up consisting of 5 presentations, sponsors with lots of outdoor goodies ready to purchase, and lots of friends to chat with.
