First Family Winter Hot Tent Camping Trip

After putting off buying a hot tent for a very long time, we finally pulled the trigger in October and purchased one – well, It’s actually an old canvas tent which we converted into a hot tent, but it’s a hot tent now! With winter fast approaching, we were excited to try it out in Algonquin at New Year’s Eve and Family Day weekend. Unfortunately due to covid we were not able to get out either of those times. But just when we thought our chance to get out winter camping was gone for this season, everything finally opened up the middle of March so we seized the opportunity and headed north.

Snowshoeing at Presqu’ile

I am a fan of spontaneous adventures – especially when my plan for the day includes grocery shopping, cleaning, and school work while my boys went to play on the ski hill (boring!) – so when the opportunity came up to go snowshoeing instead, I was already out the door. It all came about while taking a break (i.e. checking Facebook) and I noticed that Andrew from Cruising Canoes had put out a call for people to join him for a free afternoon of snowshoeing at Presqu’ile Provincial Park.

Pre Christmas Yurt Trip – Part 2

We woke up Sunday morning to a lovely winter scene thanks to the little bit of fresh snow that had fallen overnight. The snow was a fantastic sight because the plan was to go hike some of the trails Algonquin has to offer in the winter. Unfortunately, a couple of our favourites were closed due to bad conditions, but it worked out because that forced us to head to an awesome trail we had never hiked before!
