I have some plans to complete a couple of big hikes this summer, so I’m currently in focused on getting some kilometers hiked while carrying some weight in a backpack. To that end, I recently headed out for my first long hike of the year.

Finding new adventures in our local area is such a great thing, especially these days. It means there’s no need travel long distances and we get to support our local businesses. We’ve known about the Millennium trail for a long time, but never really looked into exploring it until now. It’s an old rail bed which has been converted to a multi-use trail and covers 46 km from Consecon to Picton in Prince Edward County.

Waking up to the sound of rain drops on the tent at 3 am and the urge to get up to use the bathroom. That’s how my Saturday started. So, I waited until there was a break in the rain so that I didn’t get wet while I made my escape into the darkness, before crawling back into my tent and falling back to sleep until late morning.
